The wheels on your dishwasher rack can become worn and uneven over time. It’s always a good idea to replace them when this happens. Otherwise, your clean dishes could be sent crashing to the floor because the rack derails as you pull it out.

Here are the steps to replacing these wheels:

Turn off the power

Flip the circuit breaker that sends power to your dishwasher. Even though you won’t be working on anything electrical, it’s always best to cut the power and make the procedure safer.

Remove the dishrack and damaged wheels

Pull the rack completely out of the dishwasher and remove the basket that holds silverware. Place the rack on its side, place your fingers under the wheel and pop the wheel off.

Assemble wheels (some models only)

For some models, the wheels and axel are sold separately. If this is the case, assemble the two by pushing the axel into the wheel. If the wheels you purchased already have the wheel and axel assembled, you can skip this step.

Replace wheels

Push the wheels on the dishrack until they snap in place. Then place the rack back on the track and put the silverware basket back in place. Move the unit back and forth a few times to make sure it moves smoothly.
