What is a Tub Clean, you ask?  We are happy to explain!

Keeping your washer functional is essential for daily life.  The person that said “death and taxes are the only thing guaranteed in life,” must not have had to do the laundry!  Avoid the bad smells or other oddities, we are here to gently remind you it’s one of the most important maintenance tasks you can perform cycle. But what exactly is a tub clean cycle, and how often should you do it? Let’s get into the details!

What is a Washer Tub Clean?

A tub clean cycle is a specialized cleaning cycle built into many modern washing machines. Its primary purpose is to clean the interior of the washer, including the drum, agitator (if applicable), and other components that come into contact with water and detergent during the washing process.

During a tub clean cycle, the washer fills with hot water and detergent, then agitates to thoroughly clean away any residue, dirt, and grime that may have accumulated over time. Some machines also incorporate additional features such as high-speed spins and rinses to ensure a deep clean.

Why is Washer Maintenance Important?

Cleaning your washer tub prevents the buildup of mold, mildew, and bacteria inside your washer.  No one wants that!   These contaminants can lead to unpleasant odors, stains on your clothes, and even potential health hazards. By incorporating the tub clean cycle into your laundry routine, you can maintain a hygienic washing environment and prolong the life of your appliance.

How Often Should You Run a Washer Cleaning Cycle?

How often do you use your washer?  If you a frequent traveler, then you might not need to do it as often.  If you have kids getting muddy at soccer every weekend, you might need to subscribe for regular deliveries for cleaning supplies.  As a general guideline, manufacturers recommend one a month or as needed.  What does “as needed” mean?  If you notice any signs of mold or mildew growth, such as musty odors or visible stains, it’s a good idea to run a tub clean cycle at that time.
