There is something magical about cooler weather, red and green decor, twinkling Christmas lights and all of the cookies that your belly can handle. The month of December is a special time in Atlanta to celebrate Christmas. We have chosen some pretty special events in the area that we feel that you and your loved ones will absolutely adore during the holiday season.
Stone Mountain Christmas’ Singalong Train Ride
The laundry can wait. Your work e-mails can be replied to on Monday. Spend the weekend at Stone Mountain Park to reconnect with your family. A favorite of the kids, ride the Singalong train. Pro tip: Watch the parade close to the Marketplace and then you can jump onto the Singalong Train immediately after the parade is finished. If possible, sit on the left side of the train to soak in the views of the lights and show. Don’t forget to dress warmly if you ride at night!
Antebellum Christmas at the Mansion
Georgia’s Old Governor’s Mansion, a historic museum, is transformed into a Christmas wonderland every year to celebrate the season. This unique event allows guests to step back in time to see how the holiday was celebrated in history’s past. Tours of the gorgeous mansion take place in addition to choirs singing in the rotunda.
Drive Thru Christmas Lights at Rock Ranch
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to drive through a winter wonderland of Christmas lights that span the distance of more than one mile? At Rock Ranch, you can experience this amazing spectacle in person. This family fun event started 9 years ago when the late S. Truett Cathy, Founder of Chick-fil-A and The Rock Ranch, purchased lights that were on clearance at the local hardware store with a vow to provide a Christmas spectacle to the public every year. Since that first year, the show keeps getting bigger as more lights are added.
We hope your holiday season is joyous and wonderful this year!
