The Customer’s Concern

When the homeowner replaced the water filter, it wouldn’t stay locked into place. Water began leaking around the filter housing, and the refrigerator’s dispenser light was no longer working.

Leaks around a refrigerator water filter are easy to dismiss, but even a slow drip can lead to cabinet damage, flooring issues, or wasted water if left untreated.

Our Investigation

Our technician inspected the water filter housing and dispenser assembly to determine why the filter would not lock into position.

After testing the refrigerator, we confirmed the problem was not the filter itself. The water filter head had failed, preventing the filter from locking securely into place. During testing, we also confirmed the dispenser LED board had failed.

This is why diagnosing the actual cause is important before replacing parts. A new water filter alone would not have solved this problem.

The Repair

To restore the refrigerator, we replaced:

LED control board (PCB)

After installation, the refrigerator was fully tested to verify proper operation.

The Result

The new water filter locked securely into place, the water leak was eliminated, and the dispenser light was working properly again.
