Where can I find my model and serial number?
Most LG appliances have a model and serial tag located inside the appliance, around the door opening, or on a side panel. The exact location varies by product type and model.
Not sure where to look? LG has a helpful guide showing common model and serial tag locations for refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, microwaves, and more.

How Much Does LG Appliance Repair Cost?
The cost of an LG appliance repair depends on several factors, including the type of appliance, the part that has failed, and the complexity of the repair.
Some repairs are relatively simple, while others require specialized tools, training, and replacement parts.
One of the most expensive repairs we see is a refrigerator compressor or sealed system repair. These repairs require specialized equipment, refrigerant handling, and additional labor. Even when an LG compressor is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, labor and other materials may not be included.
Many LG refrigerators include a 10-year limited warranty on the compressor itself, but that warranty typically covers the part only. Travel charges, diagnostic charges, labor, refrigerant, filter driers, and other sealed system components may still be the homeowner’s responsibility.
If your LG refrigerator is approaching or over 10 years old, we often recommend comparing the cost of repair versus replacement before moving forward. In some cases, replacement may be the more practical long-term investment.

What Does “Parts Covered But Labor Not Covered” Mean?
This is one of the most common sources of confusion with LG warranty repairs.
When LG says a part is covered under warranty, it does not mean the entire repair is free.
In many cases, LG reimburses the parts distributor for the covered part or provides the part directly (extremely rare). LG does not typically pay the service company for the part, shipping costs, or any markup associated with obtaining and handling the part.
LG’s extended part warranties also generally do not cover:
- Travel charges
- Diagnostic charges
- Labor to install the part
- Refrigerant (when applicable)
- Shipping costs
- Additional materials or components needed to complete the repair
Those costs are usually the responsibility of the appliance owner.
Think of it this way: LG may provide the replacement part, but the work required to diagnose the problem, obtain the part, travel to your home, and complete the repair is often billed separately.
For example, many LG refrigerators include a limited warranty on the compressor itself. The compressor may be covered by LG, but the labor, refrigerant, filter drier, shipping, and other sealed system components needed to complete the repair may not be.
Every warranty is different, so we’ll help explain what coverage may apply before moving forward with the repair whenever possible.

LG Warranty Questions? Start Here.
One of the most common questions we receive is: “LG told me my appliance is under warranty and to call you. What happens next?”
The answer depends on the type of warranty coverage your appliance has.
Many LG appliances include extended warranties on specific parts, such as refrigerator compressors or washer drive components. However, those warranties often do not include travel charges, diagnostic charges, or repair labor after the manufacturer’s standard warranty period has expired.
Before scheduling service, we recommend reviewing our LG Warranty Checklist.

The checklist explains:
- What information you need before scheduling
- When proof of purchase is required
- Who qualifies for warranty coverage
- What costs may still apply
- What to do if LG referred you directly to us

Frequently Asked Questions About LG Warranty Repairs
LG Told Me to Call AAA Appliance Service Center. Does That Mean My Repair Is Free?
Not necessarily.
Most LG appliances include a manufacturer’s warranty that covers both parts and labor for the first year. After that, some LG washers and refrigerators may still qualify for extended warranty coverage on certain parts.
Here’s where it can get confusing: a covered part does not always mean a fully covered repair.
Many extended LG warranties cover specific parts only. Travel charges, diagnostic charges, and repair labor are often not included once the standard one-year warranty period has expired.
That’s why we recommend gathering your model number, serial number, and proof of purchase before scheduling service. These items help determine what coverage may still be available.
Think of it like a car warranty. The engine may still be covered, but that doesn’t always mean every cost related to the repair is covered as well.
Not sure what applies to your appliance? Call or text 630-966-1950 and our team will be happy to help explain your options.
Why did LG tell me to call you instead of creating a claim?
Sometimes LG refers customers directly to an authorized service provider to determine whether warranty coverage may apply. We can help explain the process and identify what information LG may require.
Do I need proof of purchase?
Usually, yes.
For many extended LG warranty programs, proof of purchase is required before coverage can be approved.
Do I need to be the original owner?
In most cases, yes.
In many cases, LG’s extended and limited part warranties apply only to the original purchaser of the appliance. If you are not the original owner, warranty coverage may no longer be available. Don’t worry, though. Our team can still help with out-of-warranty repairs and discuss your options.
What if the appliance came with my newly built home?
If you purchased a newly constructed home and the appliance was included by the builder, you may still qualify as the original owner for warranty purposes.
LG may request documentation showing that you purchased the home new from the builder and that the appliance was included with the home. This may include closing documents, builder paperwork, appliance documentation, or other proof of purchase.
If you’re not sure what documentation you have available, don’t worry. Give us a call or text at 630-966-1950, and we’ll help point you in the right direction.
What if I purchased a home with existing appliances already installed?
In most cases, LG’s limited and extended warranties do not transfer to a new owner when a home is sold.
If you purchased a previously owned home and the appliances were already there, the original warranty coverage may no longer apply.
The good news is that we can still help with out-of-warranty repairs and discuss your options.
What information should I have ready before calling?
Please have:
- Photo of the Model Tag that includes the model number, serial number, etc.
- Proof of purchase
- Description of the problem
Having this information ready helps avoid delays.
Is labor covered under my LG warranty?
Most LG appliances include a standard warranty that covers parts and labor for a limited time. After that period ends, certain parts may still be covered while labor is not.
Is the service call covered under warranty?
Usually not. Travel charges and diagnostic charges are often separate from limited part warranty coverage.
Can AAA approve my warranty claim?
We’re your local authorized LG service provider and guide through the repair process. Our team has the tools, training, diagnostic equipment, and replacement parts needed to diagnose your LG appliance and complete approved repairs. We’ll help you understand the process, document the issue, and submit the information LG may require, while LG reviews the claim and determines warranty coverage and approvals.
What if I do not have my receipt?
We know receipts have a way of disappearing right when you need them most. Unfortunately, LG often requires proof of purchase before warranty coverage can be approved. If your receipt is buried in old emails or nowhere to be found, contact the retailer or builder where the appliance was purchased. Many can provide a copy of the purchase record, which may help prevent delays or issues with warranty approval.
Do I need an LG claim number?
Not always.
If LG has already assigned your repair to AAA Appliance Service Center, you may not need to do anything else. In most cases, we’ll contact you once we receive the work order from LG.
If LG provided you with a claim number, please have it handy when you call. It helps us locate your warranty claim faster.
If your appliance is more than one year old and you do not have an LG claim number, don’t worry. We’ll typically need a copy of your proof of purchase so we can submit it to LG for review and determine whether any warranty-covered parts may still qualify for coverage.
If your appliance is less than one year old, LG usually requires a warranty claim to be started directly with them first. You can start a claim online through LG or call LG directly at 1-800-243-0000.
Think of the claim number as your appliance’s place in line. Sometimes LG has already put you in the queue, and sometimes the claim still needs to be started before service can be scheduled.
